Tom and Janet live in a wonderful house that was built in 1902. The original builder was the owner of the local lumberyard, and therefore had access to the most talented craftsmen and the highest quality building supplies. His house was the most beautiful on the block.
Tom and Janet have owned the house for about twenty-five years, and they have taken great pride in keeping the feel of the house as it was nearly a hundred years ago. The house was the victim of an inappropriate clumsy kitchen makeover in the 1980's, but Tom and Janet could see the true beauty when they decided to purchase the house.
Janet spent years refining her vision for the new kitchen, including layout, colors, and all the other small details that make a truly great renovation. They contracted with Clark & Company to bring her vision into reality.
The Clark & Company crew disassembled the existing kitchen, demolished a wall that seperated the kitchen and a sunroom, and began the re-construction. As the general contractor, Clark & Company performed most of the work with their employees, and also partnered with several of the regions best trade contractors.
South River Contracting handled the electrical wiring for the new kitchen, as well replacing the outdated breaker box. B.R. Radford Plumbing installed the necessary plumbing and gas lines, and Carter's Cabinets supplied the cabinetry. After relocating an exterior wall, Clark & Company installed energy-efficient Pella windows in the new kitchen, and installed new wood siding milled in their custom millwork shop.
The finished product is a very functional kitchen with plenty of storage space and great depth of character. The most important element is the way that the new kitchen does not feel like a new kitchen. It feels like it was there since the house was built.
