Company History

W.C. Clark began building houses in the Roanoke Valley in 1954. His son, Glenn Clark followed in his footsteps, and was a local builder for over thirty years before retiring. Glenn’s sons often spent time on the jobsites, learning from their father and grandfather. They learned early in life the value of money, the importance of quality craftsmanship, and the hands-on skills that became the basis of their occupation.

In the year 2000, Matthew formed his own business, and became a licensed Class A contractor. While building houses to sell, he quickly realized that customers were looking for quality products, even in smaller houses. A small house does not mean a “cheap” house. Most customers recognize quality workmanship and durable materials, and they are willing to pay a fair price for a better product.

In 2003, the business became known as Clark & Company, and Luke soon joined forces with his brother, working together daily. The company continues to steadily grow, with a wide range of service offerings. The primary focus continues to be new homes built to sell, complimented with remodeling services, and subcontractor trades such as custom trimwork and carpentry. In 2007, Clark & Company became part of the EarthCraft program, as well as an Energy Star Partner. The green building concept applies superior construction management and methods that were easy to adopt into their quality building programs.

Over the years, Clark & Company has built great relationships with many outstanding subcontractors, including many friends and family members. Their attention to detail and personal oversight on every job ensure completion of top quality projects. After all, their family name will be associated with every job for many years to come!
